This limited edition bell was produced by Gerry Ballatyne F.R.S.A. and was the 1988 Annual Ballantyne Bell. The piece was cast in bronze using the "lost wax" process. Each bell is serially numbered, and the Poe Museum's bell is number 205.

The designs on the sides of the bell represent Poe's works "The Gold Bug," "The Raven," and "The Bells."
