First English Edition of The Raven and Other Poems
Description:Published in London in 1846 (the year after the collection was first published by the same publishers in New York), this book uses the same sheets as the American edition with the addition of a new title page. It is bound in green cloth.
Poe's poem "The Raven" was popular on both sides of the Atlantic. Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the British poem to whom the volume is dedicated, wrote Poe in April 1846 that the poem had "produced a sensation, a 'fit horror'" in England.
