Zolnay Bust of Poe During Unveiling Ceremony at Poe Museum
The bust was unveiled on January 19, 2010 by Harry Lee Poe, President of the Poe Foundation, in Memory of Frank Swift Poe and His Brother William Nelson Poe. The bust was a gift of their children George Wilkinson Poe, Katherine Thomason Poe, and Harry Lee Poe.

Description: The University of Virginia commissioned this bust, which was unveiled in 1899, the fiftieth anniversary of Poe's death. The Poe Museum's casting was produced sometime before the foundry housing the mold burned in the 1920s, and the bust was displayed in a San Francisco bookstore for several years before coming to the Poe Museum in 2009, in honor of the bicentennial of Poe's birth.Known as the "Sculptor of the Confederacy," George Julian Zolnay sculpted a number of portraits of Confederate generals, including the statue of Jefferson Davis at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.
