This parody of Poe's poem "The Bells" appears in the October 19, 1867 issue of the British magazine The Tomahawk: A Saturday Journal of Satire. The anonymously authored poem is entitled "The Hells"

The Tomahawk, edited by Arthur Beckett, was published in London from 1867 until 1870. The fact that parodies of Poe's poems "The Raven" and "The Bells" both appeared in the journal in 1867 indicates that Poe's works were familiar with English readers at the time. Poe had died just eighteen years earlier, in 1849.
