The artist, Alan F. Beck, has won numerous awards and honors, including two Chelsey Award nominations, a HUGO Award nomination, and a "Body of Work" Award at LA Con IV World Con Art Show, Anaheim, California. He produces works using acrylic, watercolor, pastels, 3-D modeling, and image manipulation programs. Beck presented this framed print to the Poe Museum in 2009. In the letter that accompanied the gift, Beck wrote, "The painting was an homage to Poe, one of my favorite authors."
