Mantle from Edgar Allan Poe's Boyhood Bedroom
Description:This mantle once adorned the fireplace in Edgar Allan Poe's bedroom in the house in which he lived with his foster parents, John and Frances Allan, at 14th Street and Tobacco Alley in Richmond. Poe lived there from 1822 until 1825, when he moved with the Allans to a larger home at 5th and Main Streets.
The owner of the house, Henry S. Hutzler donated the piece to the Poe Museum in 1927. The building has since been demolished.
