These benches are said to be made of granite salvaged from Mrs. Yarrington's Boarding House on Bank Street in Richmond, Virginia. Poe moved into the house with his aunt Maria Clemm and cousin Virginia Clemm on October 3, 1835, and, by some accounts, his wedding ceremony took place there on May 16, 1836. The owner of the boarding house, Mrs. James Yarrington was one of the guests at Poe's wedding.
